Can Ruben Dias be as good as Vincent Kompany? A thread
I will be comparing Dias this season to Kompany’s 10/11 season, which is arguably his best. Since Kompany played around double the games, I will put the stats per game.
Let’s start with off the pitch. Ruben Dias is a leader and a motivator. He has had a very good start to the prem and due to his leadership, other defenders such as John Stones and Joao Cancelo are also having a good start.
Ruben Dias got 11 clean sheets in the 18 matches he played (a clean sheet every 1.64 games). Kompany got 18 clean sheets in 37 games (a clean sheet every 2.01 games). In this Ruben Dias is the clear winner.
Dias conceded 7 goals in his 18 games (0.39/g) compared to Vinny’s 32 in 37 (0.86/g). Again Dias is the clear winner.
Ruben Dias made 14 blocks (0.78/g), 18 interceptions (1/g), and 15 tackles (0.83/g). Kompany has 32 blocks (0.86/g), 87 interceptions (2.35/g) and 100 tackles (2.7/g). In this standard Kompany is better.
Overall, Dias has better leadership, better clean sheet ratio, and better goals conceded ratio, while Kompany has better blocks, interceptions, and tackle ratio.
Although it is very close, I would say so for Ruben Dias is having a better season than Kompany 10/11. If Ruben can keep this up, he can easily surpass the legacy of Vincent Kompany.
