If you are new to union boss corruption and are shocked that the United Association would sell out its members by endorsing Biden despite his promise to end the Keystone XL permit, let me introduce you to the Diplomat Hotel project ...
The UA spent $800 million from its members’ pension fund to build a luxury hotel in FL. According to government lawsuits, union leaders enriched themselves and their friends through sweetheart deals and insider trading throughout the project
The project took much longer and cost significantly more than initially projected. It was billed as an “investment” for the pension fund but the govt alleged that the UA started the project with zero thought given to its financial viability
The $800 mil hotel paid for by the members’ pension fund was sold in 2014 for ... wait for it ... $460 mil. The supposed “investment” reaped the union about half of what they put in into it! All at the expense of the hardworking plumbers and pipe fitters who paid into that fund
There has always been a huge disconnect between union bosses and their dues paying members ... and tons of political and financial corruption. Precisely why their “endorsements” shouldn’t really mean anything, but many people don’t know any better
