Damn it’s like you know me personally. https://twitter.com/pholanthropist/status/1355886586240634880
I used to wonder how much and how many future generations have had their lives irreparably damaged from having to take care of aging elders for prolonged periods of time.
Not that I’m a complete asshole or ignorant of the role and stake played by elders. But I’ve personally seen folks that were on their way up reduced to the poverty cycle having to care for an elder individual in their family.
And I wondered if it’s really worth it when it boils down to you. Like you worked your whole life to put your family in a better position just to become a burden and put them exactly where you were and attempting to do the same thing.
I currently take care of 2 aging family members in my family but I kinda expected it and planned ahead. My only wonder is, there some kind of line to it. Or is it only “self centered” or “loving caretaker” as options.
Life is complicated and I guess we all gotta do what’s best for us. Or what you can do that doesn’t keep you awake at night.
