If the current trajectory continues, we as a society are heading toward a future similar to the “Warhammer 40K” take on technology.
Meaning- tech will become religion out of necessity.

Once nearly anything *can* be done, the philosophical questions of what *should* be allowed becomes indistinguishable from ideology. Reality-defining eventual outcomes, which are impossible to test for without risking complete destruction of everything, must be addressed.
And due to the not-feasible nature of testing for the true answer, humans will be stuck endlessly trying to assert their dominance and control over others while unable to ever prove their assertion is legitimately “right”.
This is all to say- the idea of “Tech Heresy” is coming. There are areas of research which humanity cannot safely explore without guardrails of some sort in place.
Brain-to-Machine interfaces will likely be the first technology to square off against this existential challenge to its development. Successful public demonstration of sufficient “success” will profoundly alter humanity.
Observing its demonstration will shake us. We will then question everything.
