Okay, being both Korean AND German, here's my 2 cents on this whole Gfriend mess.
First, there are NO excuses. Kids' history books in Korea talk about WW2 and the Holocaust, especially considering the fact that we were occupied by the Nazis' bosom buddies, ie Imperial Japan.

If I knew that shit by age 7 in 1985 in a Korea with no foreign media, TV stations run by a military dictatorship, and obviously no internet, there is absofuckinglutely no reason why a grown ass woman in 2021 should not know basic facts about history.
Now, I'm not some "Gfriend anti" - there are 6 albums here signed by Yerin, Umji, SinB, and Sowon that prove that fact.

WW2 and Germany's crimes against humanity in that time are NO FUCKING JOKING MATTER. It is literally humanity at its worst. You don't laugh at Yad Vashem, and if you do, you need to be slapped until you see some fucking sense.
Yes, I realise that while we were in school, idols were practising choreos. I do not expect them to know who the Soviet generals at Stalingrad were. But I DO expect them to know basic facts. And I KNOW for a fact every Korean knows, say, General Douglas McArthur.
And every Korean knows about Japanese occupation, too. Twice's Dahyun supports charities which in turn support the victims of Japanese sex slavery. So idols know about WWII. Ignorance can only be claimed to a certain point, and this shit is WAY beyond that.
Gfriend - and I say this as someone who has supported them for years - have FUCKED UP.
