Craftsmen speaking about their craft YouTube is so wonderful I don't think we appreciate the gifts freely available to us
The point is not just to learn new information or appreciate beauty of spend time in a different mindset though all of these are so true and so wonderful
The point is that a person we like who practices careful excellence, intentional devotion, the joy of doing things well - they heal our spirits. They allow us to mend our despair, to realign our intentions: "how would he go about sharing this? How would he fix it?"
making things well is a spiritual pursuit that aids us in our other spiritual pursuits
Is not the daily struggle of every human being on earth the struggle of trying to bring actual from potential, of imposing form on matter, of making the inert intentional?
Are not we all carving wood, stringing instruments, forging tools, coding machines, grinding pigments? Are we not all building a home with an altar on which we will take flesh and make it fire?
Are we not all in a struggle with a corpse to make it live...?
