Claiming the PM is in "conflict of interest" in selecting a GG is constitutional nonsense. @erinotoole demonstrates ignorance of our constitutional conventions. The GG is NOT the PM's supervisor or boss. The GG holds the power of the royal prerogatives, but that power... #cdnpoli https://twitter.com/ctvqp/status/1355912592250826753
is exercised on the "advise" (i.e. at the direction) of the PM and cabinet. The GG has only a few reserve powers for rare cases. Otherwise, it's the PM's decision alone, and PM is accountable to House of Commons. Being a minority govt does NOT mean that PM has less power--as long
as the PM has not lost the confidence of the HoC, he can *govern* just as if he had a majority. Note: I said *govern*; legislation is different matter. Legislating is harder for a minority govt, as it should be. But minority doesn't mean the Opposition can intrude into governing.
