My thoughts on Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 137

I'll just make this a thread so that all my ramblings and nonsense are in one place
I love the fact we're getting an overview of the map to reinforce the sense of scale this "incident" had. The entirety of Shibuya is pitch-black because of the hundreds of thousands of casualties
I sound like a broken record, but I just adore how much attention is paid to the scale of this arc. From Mei taking advantage of the economy to politicians discussing how to cover this whole mess up—it really helps enrich the world-building and puts the stakes into perspective
What an entrance man. Seeing Yuta smile and be so dependable after looking half-dead and depressed all the time really warms my heart. He's come a long way
I've seen people claim that the prequel might not be canon anymore because Rika is back, but that's not true. In this week's author comment Gege even says to read the prequel for more context, and because they're tired of explaining things, so..
..I assume we might get an explanation for this in the future. My guess is that this isn't actually Rika, but that's for another time
Another cool Evangelion reference to add to the collection 👍
This conflict is so damn intriguing. The higher-ups don't trust Yuta, but neither does he trust them. Sukuna put his best friend into critical condition so he feels like he has no other choice but to go even against Gojo's will, whom he respects more than anyone else
I also think he projects himself onto Yuuji. He simply can't allow his existence, much less now that he's become a mass murderer and put Inumaki near death. He sees himself in him—the monster he could've become
And this pretty much confirms that Satoru has always been a thorn in the higher-up's eyes and that they have not an ounce of respect for him despite being of such great worth to the world and literally keeping Cursed Spirits from even appearing by his presence alone
They're taking this opportunity to label him a terrorist and make him guilty of conspiring with Geto, who was thought to have been killed by the hands of none other than Gojo himself. They're finally getting rid of him, alongside Yama who's been turning blind eyes
Honestly, this might be my favorite chapter of the year so far. The build-up for this next arc is insane and my expectations are through the roof. My only hope is that we get more political stuff this arc, cause Gege is damn good at incorporating it
This thread doesn't really give unique insight or anything, but I just felt like sharing my thoughts cause I don't really have a place for that. Thanks for reading if u did
