Your ship does not give an okay for people to intentionally misegnder/disrespect you.
Your ship doesn’t always have to remain in character.
Your ship is your ship. Do what you want. Have fun. It’s not anyone’s job to decide what fictional content you should like.
Please don’t be afraid to make content for your ship, because I’m sure someone will like it, even if some people don’t.
