A reporter just shared an email received after publishing an LTC story criticizing @fordnation's LTC response.
One part claims I shouldn't be deemed an expert b/c:
1. I'm not a MD (lol)
2. 'She probably hasn't been inside an LTC home'
3. 'She just wants media attention'

To clarify:
1. I have a PhD w/ expertise in LTC, family caregiving & feminist political economy. I've also published about absent LTC staffing ratios as early as 2011 and am currently conducting additional LTC research

2. I spent the better part of A FULL YEAR INSIDE A LTC HOME AS THE POA & ESSENTIAL FAMILY CAREGIVER for my grandmother & actively advocated for change pre-pandemic.
I know what these families are going through. I've lived it and remain scarred from it.

I never ask to be interviewed nor promote myself to the media (I don't have time for that bs). MEDIA COME TO ME b/c I've been speaking up RE: LTC since the OUTSET OF THE PANDEMIC.
I'd MUCH prefer @DrFullertonMPP do a better job so I didn't have to speak up at all.
