A Thread about credit cards

Credit cards, if used properly provide a lot of additional benefits & Rewards.

I used most of the credit cards in my career. And usually, shift and hold the credit card which gives maximum benefits & rewards.

I always pay all my bills on time.

Didn't pay any interest even once in any of the cards used for the last 13 years.

I used the following credit cards in order from 2007:

HSBC Advance credit card
ICICI Gold credit card
Axis Titanium Credit card
Standard Chartered Manhattan card

AMEX Titanium card
Citi Platinum Indian Oil card [Still holding] [Free]
Yes First Exclusive card [Holding] [Free]
Hdfc Regalia card [Holding] [Free]
SBI Simply click card [Holding] [500 fees]
Hdfc Diners Black card [Holding] [10k fees, spend 5 lakh in a year for a waiver]
4/9

Some of the cards have annual fees as mentioned above.
But, they will waive off fees if you are spending a certain threshold limit in the previous year.
And even not, they almost compensate fees with additional benefits like travel vouchers, Amazon prime, zomato pro, etc

Among all these cards, HDFC Diners black card is the best. It has almost the same features as the HDFC Infinia card. And these two are the currently best available credit cards in the market.

By default, you get 3.3% reward points on all the spends.

And, if you buy any product from Amazon or Flipkart or book flight tickets, hotels via HDFC Smartbuy, they provide 10x or 5x reward points.

The best part was 1 reward point = 1 rupee.

So, basically, you are getting a 33% discount on flight tickets or 16% on Amazon.
7/9

Almost all my flight tickets/hotels are booked freely using these reward points.

Apart from these, the other advantages of credit cards are:

1. Getting free movie tickets on BookMyShow
2. Get discounts on flights in MakeMyTrip, yatra, etc.
8/9

3. Get an instant 10% discount on Amazon, Flipkart during sale.
4. Get discounts in BigBasket, Grofers on groceries.
5. 20% discount at most of the dine-in restaurants
6. Get 2.6% cashback apart from surcharge waiver on petrol with exclusive cards like citi indian oil card.

So, having a credit card and using it properly has a lot of advantages.

The only thing to remember is pay your dues on time.

Afterall credit card is not that bad.

And if you don't have one, try applying one as per your eligibility and the benefits it offers 😀
