#OsimeBrown is a 22 year old black autistic man who moved from Jamaica to Dudley with his mother and siblings aged 4. The @ukhomeoffice is denying #OsimeBrown access to legal aid by challenging his right to British Citizenship #StopTheDeportation 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
#OsimeBrown has been consistently failed by the educational and social care services. The very support systems that are out in place in order to support him. He was moved 28 times in 12 months by the social services team #JusticeForOsimeBrown 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
Whilst under the care of Local Authority Care #OsimeBrown was deliberately targeted by criminals in order to take advantage of his mental vulnerability. This was to make #OsimeBrown commit crimes, “mates crimes” #JusticeForOsimeBrown #OsimeNeedsHisFamily 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
One day whilst with a group of 7 others, 1 of them stole a mobile phone from another young person. Despite the amount in the group only #OsimeBrown and 2 others were arrested and asked to provide statements #StopTheDeportation #JusticeForOsimeBrown 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
#OsimeBrown was arrested as a child in 2016. Yet it took 2 years for the case to come to trial. At which point he was tried as an adult. And even though #OsimeBrown was NOT the person that took the phone he was the only one to receive a custodial sentence #StopTheDeportation 🙏🏼🖤
#OsimeBrown was sentenced to 5 years in prison even though the person that committed the theft plead guilty and testified in court that #OsimeBrown had actually tried to stop him taking the phone #JusticeForOsimeBrown #StopTheDeportation 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
#OsimeBrown was convicted under the now rescinded and discredited “joint enterprise” law. During his trial Osime had no understanding of what was going on. Upon hearing of the deportation order he asked his mom Joan how to catch a bus from Jamaica to Dudley💔 #StopTheDeportation
On commencing his sentence at @HMPStocken #OsimeBrown was assessed by prison healthcare services and deemed to have PTSD, an underlying anxiety disorder & Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) #StopTheDeportation #OsimeNeedsHisFamily 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
On her first visit to #OsimeBrown Joan saw that her baby’s arms were bandaged because of self harm. Osime has slashed his wrists. Joan WAS NOT informed of this by @HMPStocken beforehand #JusticeForOsime #OsimeNeedsHisFamily 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
Whilst at @HMPStocken rather than support #OsimeBrown he was over medicated with sedatives and anti-psychotics instead of supported. This caused #OsimeBrown to faint numerous times in prison. Due to over medication he has also developed a heart condition #PrayForOsime 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
His heart condition has also been the cause of two operations. During the last surgery #OsimeBrown was not administered enough anesthetiser and he was left awake. And to add to this he was handcuffed to a guard throughout. Stripped of his dignity #JusticeForOsimeBrown 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
On top of all this in August 2018 the @ukhomeoffice issued Osime with a removal notice and his deportation was set for 3rd December 2018, until a last minute appeal was lodged. This was dismissed pending a final appeal by the immigration courts in 2020 #StopTheDeportation 🙏🏼🖤
Joan is as desperate as any mother would be to keep her son safe. Sending him to a country he doesn’t know and won’t receive adequate support will cost her son his life, and this is destroying Joan #StopTheDeportation #JusticeForOsime 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
The cruelty of the @ukhomeoffice who have obviously learnt nothing from Windrush, was to tell Joan that Osime would be fine as “he knows the culture” Osime has not been to Jamaica since the age of 4. This is the “hostile environment” caused by this government 💔 #JusticeForOsime
The Brown family have been abused by the @ukhomeoffice now for 4 generations. Joan’s parents came to Britain during the 60’s on the Windrush. When Joan’s mother went to Jamaica for a holiday she was denied entry back to the UK and Joan’s parents remained separated till death 💔🙏🏼
In 2019 a psychological assessment on #OsimeBrown stated that he was failed by the very systems out in place to support him. And if he hadn’t he would have never likely found his way into criminality. And that if Joan had been supported Osime could have been managed 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
@HMPStocken and the @ukhomeoffice are responsible for a number of abuses inflicted on #OsimeBrown and his family. Some of these are as follows 👇🏼💔
Last week of July 2020: Joan finds out that Osime has been coughing up blood. Yet @HMPStocken refused to admit Osime to hospital. After pressure they agreed to admit him. In a weeks time. The prison doctor instead told him off for not taking part in gym exercise #JusticeForOsime
August 2020: Osime is still coughing up blood and also has abdominal pains. When he begged for help guards got angry with him instead of helping him. The removed his work privileges and locked him in his cell. He punched the wall and was left for 24 hours with a broken hand 💔🙏🏼
9th Sept 2020: Joan receives a call from Osime. A probation officer has informed him that he is to be moved to a removal centre on the 7th October to await deportation. Osime is alone, frightened and confused 💔🙏🏼🖤 #StopTheDeportation #OsimeNeedsHisFamily
14th Sept 2020: Osime calls Joan to inform her he fainted again and was taken to hospital. An ECG confirmed his heart condition was worsening. He told the guards he wanted to die. Instead of help he was out back in his cell and put on suicide watch 💔 #JusticeForOsimeBrown 🙏🏼❤️🖤
15th Sept 2020: Osime informs Joan that he’s been taken off suicide watch but is being denied food. He hasn’t eaten for 34 hours. He was told food was coming but it never arrived #JusticeForOsimeBrown #OsimeNeedsHisFamily 🙏🏼❤️🤍🖤
#OsimeBrown was admitted to prison recently when his heart stopped. Joan was once again facing her worst nightmare at the thought of losing her son. The treatment of Osime is the “culmination of a long history of discriminatory treatment familiar with autistic and black children”
@marcolonghi4dn Osime Brown is one of your constituents. Why are you not supporting the family?! @RobertBuckland why are you allowing a young vulnerable man to be treated like this?! Sign the Early Day Motion!!!
