Marx spent the last years of his life studying indigenous cultures. He set aside writing Capital to do so, which is why Engels had to finish the last two volumes. He wrote around 800 pages of notes. Even in Capital, he directly says the US was a project of genocide.
Note: Marx held himself to such a standard that he would spend years researching this question and making copious notes without publishing his opinions. That’s because he was actually studying reality, and knew that generalising and pontificating were useless and dangerous.
At points, Marx even suggests that indigenous societies hold much of the understanding that would be required for communism. Recovering this element of Marx should really be a precondition of a Marxist discussion around this.
The other precondition is, like, studying reality like he did.
The notebooks he kept are here, but i stress they are notebooks and not fun to read. https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1881/ethnographical-notebooks/notebooks.pdf
So, yeah, Karl Marx is still more progressive, writing from the 1800s than the majority of people who say they’re following his example here in 2021
And like, pls, just google “Karl Marx [insert question here]” before you go off on a topic “as a Marxist”
We also need a plant based system of production if we’re going to survive as a species and only non-western societies have any real understanding of this in their remembered and known history so y’know https://twitter.com/ProlekultFilms/status/1342908711594061831?s=20
We'll get to the fact that "land back" does not mean "change the ownership of land as property" but rather "abolish private property and develop toward a system based on communion with nature" another day.
End note to the reactionaries in my comments claiming Marx was a worthless deadbeat (there are a hell of a lot of em rn): he was disabled. Disabled people can, in fact, contribute to human history. Suck it.
