A thread, if I can be so indulgent.

Whenever I received my first copies, of a book I'd actually written myself (Rainy Days & Tuesdays, 2007) I took two copies from the box.
The first, I gave to my parents.
The second, I gave to my granny (the mammy's mammy)
My granny, Mary McGuinness, was an avid reader. A huge fan of Maeve Binchy, @patriciascanl18, @cathykellybooks, @sheilaoflanagan, @MarianKeyes etc

She passed that love of reading on to my mother, and then to me.

We shared many, many book chats
I can't even express how special it was to go and see her with a book I had actually written myself.

She was so very proud. SO proud.

It became a tradition that every time a box of new books arrived, I'd take two out - one for my parents and one for my granny.
It also became tradition that she came to every book launch and signing and would beam with pride.

This was especially true when Jumping in Puddles was released - which I dedicated to her.

She always loved to hear all the book world chat. She loved hearing what authors I'd met.
This day, three years ago, she passed away.

One of the last conversations I had with her was about attending the Irish Book Awards as a guest of @HCinIreland - you'd have thought I won all the awards by her reaction to the story.
She never lived to see Her Name Was Rose published. Or the success it achieved.
Nor the success of the following four thrillers & two rom-coms.

I'd give anything to share those bookish moments with her again.
Today I'm taking a book from the box of author copies of Ask No Questions and I'm setting it aside.
Just in her honour.

Always missed, always loved.

Pictured here with my granda, Philip, who joined her at rest last May.
