Centre back:
Our defence often looks clueless without Sergio Ramos. We have lost 9 out of our last 7 UCL games without him, and this season in la liga we clearly miss him when he isn’t there. We desperately need a new leader in CB, we can’t rely on Ramos forever.

Left back:
There is no doubt that Mendy has made the left back position his in this current Real Madrid squad. He’s an excellent player. However when Mendy is rested or injured and Marcelo plays, our team is often hindered. (continued)

In November 2020 it was recorded that Marcelo had featured in EVERY SINGLE defeat since Zidane’s return (nine out of 28 games, 32%). Madrid need a player who can reliably fill the LB position when our first choice is unavailable.
Right back:
Similar to the LB position our RB position suffers from a lack of depth. When Carvajal is unavailable, which unfortunately has been quite often this season, our right side suffers. Odriozola has been disappointing in the few games he’s played since his return...

Despite some good games from Lucas Vasquez as a make-shift LB, he doesn’t feel like a reliable long term solution unless his defensive ability becomes consistent. Although Militão has played RB previously, Madrid opt against him as he would not suit our attacking full back style.
Midfield:
This is currently the least concerning aspect of our team. The trio of Casemiro, Kroos and Modric is still one of the worlds best. Modric turns 36 this year and next season may be his last for us. Kroos plans to retire at the end of his contract in 2023...

However the future seems bright for our midfield. Casemiro is only 28. Fede Valverde is an outstanding young midfielder. Ødegaard proved his talent at Sociedad last season and despite his loan, will return for next season. Antonio Blanco may be a great option one day. Signings???
Attack:
Benzema has been the leader of our attack since Ronaldo’s departure. He has been outstanding, being the second top scorer in La Liga with 21 goals last season, behind only Messi who is his team’s penalty taker. With plenty of injuries, Hazard has been unable to help...

very much, however our goals output is much higher with Hazard in the team. Last season our second top scorer was Ramos with just 11, and this season is Casemiro with just 5. I think our strongest front three is Hazard, Benzema and Rodrygo, but all three have rarely...
Been fit at the same time. An attacking signing is desperately needed. I’m still convinced that Jovic is a great talent. But Madrid no doubt have their eyes on Mbappe and Haaland, with a move for Mbappe expected this summer. Could this be the solution to our attacking issues?
