Bill Gates’ position on this puts him at odds with the developing world countries his foundation is designed to support. India and South Africa are fighting hard at the WTO for Covid patents to be lifted, supported by the likes of Doctors Without Borders and Human Rights Watch.
This story is important because Bill Gates is the single most influential individual in global public health, despite being elected by no one. We need to know what he is thinking and why. This is why we asked him, and reported on it. Apparently, Twitter did not agree.
