Discovered @TheHashmasks tonight and my mind was blown.

It’s a fascinating NFT project that is very thoughtfully designed—and is about take off.

Here’s what it’s all about 👇
Hashmasks is part digital art, part collectible.

There are 16,384 unique Hashmasks.

When you buy one, you fully own it, including the copyright.
Here’s a few examples of what Hashmasks look like.

Each piece is unique.

There are 5 characteristics with differing degrees of rarity; mask, character, eye color, skin color, item.
The distribution is designed to be fair.

When you buy a Hashmask, you don’t know what piece you bought.

You find out 14 days after the start of the sale (started Jan 28).

The piece you get is cryptographically randomized—no matter if you bought first or last.
The price gets more expensive as the supply gets bought up.

Hashmasks went on sale Jan 28 for 0.1 $eth each.

As of this tweet, 11,628 have been sold. They’re now going for 0.9 $eth.

At the current rate, they’re likely to jump to the next price threshold in ~2 days.
Supply is scarce and some pieces are more rare than others.

But there’s another layer of scarcity that gets the owner involved in the art itself.

You can name your piece and tie it to the NFT cryptographically.

Once a name is taken, no other piece can bear the same name.
To change the name of a piece, you have to use NCT (“name changing tokens”).

When you buy a piece, you get enough NCT to name it and change it once.

To change it again, you need more NCT. You can earn more NCT by holding the art piece in your wallet.
On top of the scarcity, there are 2 key considerations around naming your piece:

1. You get your piece “unnamed.” Once you name it, it can never be “unnamed” again.

2. You can name it before you know which of the 16,384 unique pieces you got.

You can play this multiple ways.
Hashmasks are as much digital art as they are a game.

Combining full ownership, fair distribution, rarity of pieces, and scarcity of names makes for a game-like experience and a hyperactive community.

The discord has non-stop chatter. And there’s already a secondary market.
By designing a fair system from the get go, it’s clear how to play and participate.

This stands out from most other NFT projects and gives Hashmasks the legs to turn into something really interesting.

I’m excited to participate and see where it goes. 🖼👀
There’s a lot more detail on the Hashmasks site.

Check it out. At the very least, it’s fascinating to learn about. 🙏
