@PamelaBrownCNN QAnon is unique in many ways - it appeals directly to people feeling as if they have discovered something no one else can see. This boosts their vision of themselves & makes them feel like an insider. There's a lot of psychology that isn't being mentioned on air
Qanon Conspiracy theorists imagine that they are solving a puzzle about how the world really works? Like an enigma, figuring it out offers a sense of accomplishment and intellectual superiority over those who have not (yet) seen the light.
QAnon constructed a “virtual community” with shared values & goals, the price of admission suggested exclusivity, conferring a feeling of pride to its members. This is salient for people who may feel socially isolated or lonely; Qanon conspiracy offers social interaction
