I get those responding, “Who cares? They’re not going to convict.” I get that thinking, but, two points, and one already coming out here: If Republican senators are going to fail America here, we want it to be as painfully obvious as possible that they are doing so. https://twitter.com/kaitlancollins/status/1355701281042681856
Second, it is important. This is a part of our history, and is a piece of what comes next. And Republican failure to hold Trump accountable for his insurrection incitement hopefully will push more Democrats and independents — and hopefully a few more Republicans — to fight back.
(Of course, accountability for Trump by the Senate now would be better. I am granting the proposition here in the above arguments.)
