KATE & ALLIE (1984-89) is geting a reboot, apparently without either of its original stars https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/kate-allie-remake-in-works-nbc
Rights holders always think it's about the concept.
It's rarely about the concept. It's usually about the enactment.

With half the reboots that are done β if they just struck new masters of the original, put ad dollars behind it, and gave it good placement on a streaming service, it would out-perform the remake.
But they vault the originals, act like they're not even worth spending $ on an HD re-master, and then drop millions on a new show w/ a new cast.
Thankfully Disney realized the folly in this and is just giving us what we want: THE (original) MUPPET SHOW https://tv.avclub.com/most-sensational-the-5-episodes-to-watch-when-the-mupp-1846100221

And yes, I know you can't make true HD from a sitcom shot on videotape in the 1980s.
But you can do a lot to make it look (and sound) better than soft, hissy analog masters that were used for syndication 30 years ago.
THE GOLDEN GIRLS is a great example.
