Mike Conley is an All-Star (A Thread)
Mike Conley has been snubbed from the all-star game multiple times, and this season has been yet another campaign deserving of his first selection.
Conley is currently scoring at a good rate very efficiently while being the lead initiator on a top-5 Jazz offense. He’s also been spacing the floor at an elite level. On top of this, he’s been playing really good positional defense.
His stats:
▫️16.8 PPG
▫️6.1 APG
▫️1.6 SPG
▫️41.8 3P% (7.1 Att/G)
▫️59.5 TS% (+2.9 rTS%)
▫️8.7 Box-Creation
These stats are obviously good, but can be misleading. Conley has only been playing 30.1 minutes per game this year as the Jazz have been blowing a lot of teams out. We can use stats per 75 possessions to adjust for this, given that stars play 75 possessions a game on average.
Mike Conley’s Statistical Profile:
▫️20.5 pts/75
▫️7.4 ast/75
▫️2.0 stl/75
▫️41.8 3P% (8.6 Att/75)
▫️59.5 TS% (2.9 rTS %)
▫️8.7 Box-Creation
That is easily the profile of an all-star without even measuring his positive defense. He’s also doing this while on the league-leading 14-5 Jazz, who have had a top-5 offense and defense, and he is near the top of multiple +/- metrics. Let’s hope he doesn’t get snubbed again.
