1. What communists need to understand is ppl typically take the path of least resistance during their political develpment. This is why most people who become disillusioned with the current state of things turn to soc democracy & fascism, esp since communism has been so demonized
2. Social democracy and fascism have many similarities that both sides dont wish to acknowledge. They both seek a third way between capitalism and communism, but failing to resolve the root causes of the inherent contradictions of capitalism, they remain bourgeois dictatorships.
3. Furthermore, many westerners fail to see how fascism can dress itself in "progressive" garb like it does in many places outside of the west. When it does, the fact that social democracy is the left wing of fascism, at least in imperialist countries, becomes more apparent.
4. The reason why social democracy and fascism are so readily accepted by those disillusioned with capitalism is because, at the end of the day, they're highly compatible with liberalism the type of individualism that is preached in the west.
5. This is why while we do not waste our energy trying to convert committed fascists, we should understand why some people who are just beginning to question the system might turn to fascism and seek to win the ones who are willing to listen to us.
6. Disrupting the liberal to fascist pipeline is a very important part of anti-fascism that western communists do not take seriously enough.
7. This is why it is important to understand all reactionary trends to the best of our abilities so that we can better combat them. The problem with the typical westerner's understanding of fascism is once you take away the overt racism, many cease to recognize it.
8. It is therefore wrong to assume that those who end up becoming fascism would have swayed in that direction. We need to prevent more people from moving towards reaction.
9. Clearly, seeing that something is wrong with our system is not enough, which is why the reading-adverse "leftists" who scoff at the idea of reading theory and history, and instead rely solely on lived experiences, are useful idiots of reaction.
10. The thing about lived experiences is they can be interpreted in infinite ways. What we experience is one thing, how we make sense of it is another, and is determined by our ideology, which is influenced by our understanding of political-economic theory and history.
11. For example, if your family is not at the receiving end of imperialist aggression, imperialism may very well be an abstract concept to you, and if you rely solely on your lived experiences to guide your political thought, then you'll be complacent with imperialism at best.
12. Think about why Bernie and AOC supporters tend to be so shit when it comes to imperialism. Sure, they might SAY imperialism is bad, but if imperialism is something abstract in your mind, then your opinions on it will be removed from reality either way.
13. I'm at work right now and orders are starting to come in again after a brief moment of no orders, so I guess I'll end my thread here.
