Are you an agent of overdue change, or an unwitting soldier in someone else's meme war?

@chamath says @RobinhoodApp are liars, insolvent, "should go to jail", but he's also the guy taking competitor @SoFi public. https://twitter.com/theallinpod/status/1355343146180206596
"Put them [RH] in prison!" cries @stoolpresidente on national TV, as he scores more donations for his foundation. (e.g., @chamath's $500k)

Btw, RUN when someone says "is there proof of that? if they do the investigation right, I'm sure there will be"!
Crypto OGs tell you "crypto fixes this", but they also run the crypto casino.

DeFi is a magical casino where the chips are shares of the casino. It's "the future of finance", you go in "for the tech", but wouldn't it be sweet to 100x on a low-cap token pump in a day?
The CEO recruits you to "make the world a better place", and thinks "you should skip college", but she also has 5000x more equity than you do, a safety net, and deep skills acquired over years of experience.
No movement is 100% pure.

There will always be self-interested parties, folks who seize on the opportunity to channel your energy to their own benefit, winners and losers. That's OK. That's not inherently good or bad. That's just how the world works.
IMO the worst thing to be in these situations is the pure idealist. Like this guy on Reddit:
I know because I too am prone to idealize, fixate on the promise of a movement, rather than what it is now. If that's you, know it's a strength, but don't conflate it with the yearning to confirm everyone else is in for the same reasons, or the fear of disenchantment.
So fight the good fight (whatever that means for you), but take care of yourself because that's your responsibility only. Accept no meme war is pure, no "brother in arms" is completely selfless, reject dogma, don't take yourself too seriously.
