Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's failures as a Real Madrid president, a short thread.
I would like to start off by letting you all know that he was not the one who signed Ronaldo, there were always rumors that he did not like the fact that someone he did not sign was the star man of the club.
The most obvious, and the worst one is letting Cristiano Ronaldo go, this is where it all goes downhill for Real Madrid. Zidane wanted to sell Bale and keep Cristiano in 2018 but he did the opposite.
Which led to Zidane leaving the club because he felt it was unfair that he did not get a say in the clubs transfers because Perez did whatever he willed.
Zidane leaving also resulted in the worst season for Real Madrid in modern football.
After Ronaldo left, we did not sign any replacements either, Lopetegui, who was the new head coach would have done better with a proper replacement.
This is an old one, but sacking Del Bosque. He ended up being one of the greatest managers of all time after being the manager of that dominant Spain team. After his sacking the famous Galacticos won hardly anything.
Real Madrid once tried to sign Neymar, but we failed and he went to Barca and gained immense success. This struck Perez, since then he has put over a 100 million in Brazilian youngsters and until now, 0 of them have contributed anything to the success of this club.
Ronaldinho, the Barcelona great, one of the few Barca players to ever get a standing ovation at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid actually had a chance to sign him but Perez blocked the transfer because he was 'so ugly that he'd sink you as a brand'.
And currently, the club legend and arguably the greatest captain and defender of this club has not been offered the contract he wants, Perez is instead looking at other defenders like Alaba instead of settling Ramos' contract, who is still, at this age, Real Madrid's diamond.
We have won of trophies during his reign as president but a lot of them have more to do with our managers and players' brilliance. For example, after sacking Ancelotti, he appointed Rafa Benitez, who was a failure, who was then replaced by the legendary Zidane.
