I’ve been trying to understand a lot of these 2020 armys and here’s what I came up with.. when I became an army in 2018 bts didn’t have a single #1 album in the US, not even a top 10 song. Radio shut them out and basically ignored armys, hung up on them, made fun of them etc+
I saw the discrimination a group of extremely talented artists were facing in the west and I wanted to change that. I wanted bts to rise and for people to take them seriously. That meant charting their music and working hard to show how intelligent their fandom is. 2020 armys+
got to know bts with 4 #1 albums, multiple top 10 hits, praised by critics, a fandom that was for the most part respected for their chart knowledge, if not feared cause you don’t mess with bts unless you want to face us. Most armys were on the same page back then.+
Make BTS Untouchable. Sure we squabbled and fought and didn’t always agree on everything, but at the end of the day, we had shit to get done. We needed to call up radios to request. We needed to study charts so that bts could top them. We needed to fight against discrimination.+
We got to business because we had goals to accomplish and we genuinely believed bts deserved everything and more.
I feel like a lot of 2020 armys truly do not understand how much hard work it took to get here. We could barely imagine a #1 on the hot 100 for a tt in the 1st week+

Now we’ve got people fighting to get a #1 on the hot 100 for every member’s birthdays. Yes it shows our growth, but also we’ve somehow regressed. People just expect bts to be #1 all the time without really understanding what it takes. It takes a dedicated and focused fanbase+
And the same people that made #1s look so easy are bullied week after week and called hags whenever they try to educate new fans on anything. You think the fandom didn’t have its shit together in the last 7 years that we need someone to tell us how to function now?+
Y’all 2020 armys have it so freaking easy it’s not even funny. There’s not the same fire and drive to work for bts when it comes to voting and streaming cause they don’t understand how much effort it actually takes to maintain their position. Anyways these are just my ramblings
I can’t believe I have to say this but no, not ALL 2020 armys are like this. There are some who have learned bts’ history and are here to support them
