idk how harsh this is but just bc more representation is needed in an area doesn't mean you have to be the one to write it

a) genuine representation NEVER comes from a saviour complex. if you're trying to "offer representation people can't offer themselves" it's probs fuckin bad

b) if a big motivator for you is creating stories about people like you bc you've never seen them before, it's not actually surprising if you mostly write those things.

I'm an nd gay trans man and sometimes I feel bad for writing mostly about nd gay trans men but like. i sincerely doubt anyone is surprised by this?

and if people want, for example, someone who mostly writes bisexual trans women, for example, there are bi trans women doing that

you do not have to be all things to all people

you are a writer, not a shopping mall

of course write diverse casts, but like. if you have a niche for protags etc that comes from your identity and how you wish YOU could be represented, that's not at all unexpected!

do your research, think about people with experiences both like and unlike yours, don't appropriate things, write respectfully, etc, of course

we aren't exempt from doing this for people in other marginalised groups just bc we're marginalised
