Neo just like Katniss got fooled into sealing humanity’s fate with the persuasiveness of The Oracle. She duped him into fighting a pointless battle that was never meant to be won on his behalf.

The Oracle was a program designed to analyze human psychology by The Architect. She discovered that human beings had an insatiable desire for the freedom of choice, she also realized that love was the only way strengthen Neo’s desire to “save” the humans.

The Architect created Zion City just like he created The Matrix. The Matrix was a simulation within a simulation which was Zion. Human beings were tricked into thinking they were free from the Matrix by inhabiting Zion.

Neo, Trinity and Morpheus were controlled opposition.

By giving human beings the freedom of choice, The Architect managed to trick all the exiles into getting stuck within the Matrix by giving them the illusion that Zion was the real world, when it was really just another simulation.

Agent Smith was a scapegoat for The Architect who wanted full control. Agent Smith wanted out of The Matrix and could only achieve that by killing Neo. Once he became a growing force posing a threat to The Architect’s dominance, Deus Ex Machina ordered Neo to eliminate him.
