Today on "what are GCs mad about today"

It's surrogacy. Again.

Of all the things they feel personally victimized by, this is definitely the weirdest to me.
I think the most depressing yet amusing part of this (I haven't decided how I feel, clearly) is the seesaw between "how will we tell the CHILDREN", "men take advantage of women, more at 6" and "woman traffics herself and is morally bad".

They're not even consistent. Just angry.
Pardon me if I'm not in a moral panic here, but I was quite literally created in a lie to trap my father in a marriage with my egg donor. I was born of deception. I think that's more difficult to explain to a kid than "you were wanted and loved by both of us".
"How will I explain that my kid's mom was a surrogate?"

IDK, the same way my parents explained to me that my mom wasn't my egg donor, but she loved me all the same, and had always loved me, despite lack of blood ties. Seems easy to me.
Basically, stop acting like any child born outside a nuclear family is somehow different, wrong, or going to be damaged because of it.

Stop fetishizing the nuclear family and the mother's role while we're at it, women aren't magically great parents because biology.
Probably my favorite reply for 2 reasons.

A. Surrogacy is legal.

B. People die waiting on organs all the time, and we don't have enough donors because we value a dead body's autonomy more than a living being's survival. But a woman having a baby for someone else is just too far
That's not to say bodily autonomy should end when you die. A body should be treated with respect. That's to say, we value autonomy PAST THE POINT OF DEATH, yet we deny it to women on a whim out of moral concerns.
If you can't take an organ from my body, even after I'm dead, because I said you couldn't in life, you sure as shit can't dictate how a woman uses her womb when she's living. She deserves FULL autonomy. Not just when it's convenient.
