Welcome to @FriendlyHipHop's top 10 most enjoyed artists thread!

In this thread I'll cover the top 10 artists that I enjoy the most & my favorite track from each! Keep in mind this list is very subjective and it's not necessarily my "greatest of all time list"

Enjoy! 😎
Before I begin I'd like to drop my honorable mentions!

Also, for the purpose of this thread, I am not doing groups or duos & just sticking to solo artists.

Honorable mentions: Boldy James, Ab-Soul, Jay-Z, Conway, JID, J. Cole, Isaiah Rashad, Logic, Zel, Drake

Now enjoy!
10. Rick Ross

To start things off, my #10 slot is kind of new. Recently last year I got into Rick Ross heavy. I've always loved his features & his voice is so unique that I guess I gravitated towards his own music. He also has insane features on all of his projects!
As for my favorite track, it's a very close race between Sixteen & In Vein. I'll go with In Vein this time only because the energy he brings after The Weeknd finishes the hook is unreal.
9. Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi has always played a huge part in my life growing up. His music has always resonated with me & helped me through so much. When I'm looking to relax & get into a better head space, I always turn on some Cudi. He has to be in my top 10.
My favorite Cudi track is and always will be, The Prayer. I hope that one day he drops it on Spotify, even as a single I'd be happy lol. This track is incredible & always gives me vibes.
8. Benny the Butcher

Benny is an artist I only really started getting into around early 2019. When I first heard The Plugs I Met & TT3 I knew I was going to love any project he puts out. He always makes drug talk so interesting and has a hard delivery.
My favorite track from Benny is 18 Wheeler. His chemistry with Pusha was all I needed to know it was my favorite. The beat slams and they kill it respectively.
7. Eminem

Eminem basically got me into hip-hop. Growing up I was exposed to his music from TV and mostly my sister whenever she burned CD's lmao. Em is a proven legend & even if some of his music has fallen off a bit, he still has a great discography to enjoy.
My favorite Em track is and always will be No Love. The way Wayne builds it up and to have Em go so hard at the end is incredible. I'll never forget memorizing the whole track & tryna spit it perfectly lmao.
6. Lil Wayne

I'll be honest the first time I got into Wayne was TC4, but that made me go back & listen to his previous albums & I instantly became a fan. His skills on the mic are insane & he makes bangers too. He's always got solid features on his projects and holds his own.
My favorite track from Wayne has to be Mona Lisa. No disrespect to his classics but to make a record like this later in his career is awesome to see. The story telling paints a vivid picture of what's happening in the track & the Kendrick feature is a great combination.
5. Kanye West

I shouldn't have to even explain why Kanye is in my top 5 but the man has a stacked resume & continues to change up his sound on every project. His work as both a producer & rapper makes him so versatile and I'll always look forward to new music from him.
As for my favorite track, it is Devil in a New Dress. Yes, I primarily hold this track high because of Ross, but let's not downplay Kanye on it. And the production is immaculate as well, but that goes without saying.
4. Mac Miller

Where do I begin? Gone way too early. Mac was a beautiful soul with a beautiful discography to match. He rapped, sang, produced, and captured your attention on any track. I listen to so much Mac it would be mad to not have him in my top 5.
My favorite Mac Miller track changes so often but currently it is Perfect Circle / God Speed. The first half is heavy with that piano and drum, but the second half is so damn deep.. he foreshadows so much in his music but this track specifically.. RIP 🕊️
3. Nas

Nas has a PERFECT 10 of a debut album and an incredible discography to follow. I'm also a HUGE fan of his Distant Relatives project with Damian Marley. Nas' lyricism and story telling draws me in every track. He's #3 on my enjoyment list.
My favorite Nas track is N.Y State of Mind. The beat of this track fills me with nostalgia every time. I love the picture Nas paints with his lyrics talking about the streets of NYC & that's probably why I love Nas so much, his story telling is elite.
2. Kendrick Lamar

I listen to a LOT of Kendrick. His discography is strong & GKMC has insane replay value for me personally. I go back and forth with his discog and LOVE him on features. I am comfortable having Kenny at #2.
My favorite track from Kendrick is How Much a Dollar Cost. This track was story telling at its peak. It's a pretty deep track leaving you thinking: is the pursuit of wealth and success worth it in the end? At what cost?
1. Big K.R.I.T

To no surprise, Big K.R.I.T is my favorite artist and my #1 when it comes down to enjoyment. K.R.I.T has both bangers and conscience rap in his catalog. Easily top 5 of the 2010s, argue with a wall.
My favorite track in Big K.R.I.T's catalog is The Light. The blend of soul, jazz, and blues is what grabs me in this track. Bilal's incredible vocals are also soothing to hear in between K.R.I.T rapping. Perfect 10.
I hope you enjoyed my thread! Anyone have similar picks in their top 10?
