Neil Clark, RT’s go-to guy for Covid denial and conspiracism, and Garry Matthews, who tragically died of Covid, aged 46, alone in his flat in Shrewsbury on 13 January. His family say the “hoax” killed him.
I mentioned the other day that Gary was a friend of my family that lives in Shrewsbury. Everyone I’ve spoken to has talked about what a kind person he was. A nice but limited man who got taken in by conspiracy theorists who promised him all the answers. My cousin:
The BBC have also now covered the story. Gary’s own cousin said that conspiracy theorists were “complicit in Gary’s death for sure” https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-shropshire-55843817
His family begged him to wear a mask and to socially distance. But they were up against a deluge of disinformation, pushed by preening ‘shock jock’ style contrarians whose function is to rile people up for clicks and profit.
This is the @talkRADIO tweet that Neil Clark is referring to at the top of this thread. A tweet which appears to have been deleted since then.
The tragic irony of Gary’s Twitter feed as he left it is striking.
