If the GOP keeps moving right at the same pace as it has for 20+ years, that would mean that by 2025 Marjorie Taylor Greene will be a GOP moderate, and Ted Cruz will be on the left edge of the party. Imagine what the right edge will look like.

For real, do a check-in with your 2015 self and ask if you envisioned a GOP dominated by Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Seb Gorka, QAnon, Matt Gaetz, Don Jr, etc. If you did, congrats! But you were one of the rare ones.

One thing history teaches us is that the future is often radically unpredictable. Things can get far worse than we could imagine...but also, things can also get far better than we could predict. This is why the actions we take, especially those in positions of power, matter.

If you are a party of the right in a constitutional democracy, one important job you have is to guard your right flank because what lay to your right on the political spectrum is fascism. The GOP has been historically terrible at policing their right flank. And here we are.
