1. When something that once gave you life is used to try & break you, it causes what I have called “haunting pain”. “Haunting Pain” is how I describe trauma. Trauma is profound pain that doesn’t just impact a moment, but rather follows you throughout life.
2. Christians above anyone else should understand that all trauma has a spiritual impact b/c human beings are both both body [& Mind] & Soul. This means, Likewise, spiritual trauma impacts the mind & body. Therefore, the “haunting pain” of trauma impacts people comprehensively.
3. Trauma recovery & healing requires both mental & spiritual care. Psyche & Soul care are both required for comprehensive healing & Christians should Praise God for the various advancements that have been made in mental health care & be content in its lane of providing Soul Care
4. Christians who downplay the need for mental health care or who seek to provide “Soul Care” without respect for or consideration of mental health will not only undermine a person’s comprehensive healing; they will undermine the very Soul Care they claim to practice.
5. This thread started going one direction & then it went another. When I started, I was thinking about how loved ones create trauma in people’s lives by essentially weaponizing various expressions of love. I then decided to speak more generally abt Soul Care vs Therapy. My bad.
