I'm never going to understand why "disruption" and statements like "We took the entire (existing, working) model and just threw it out the window" are presumed to be *good ideas* and not a) glaring red flags, and b) con-artist bluster. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/01/29/962143659/in-philadelphia-a-scandal-erupts-over-vaccination-start-up-led-by-22-year-old
Like, how many US industries have been "disrupted" by annoying buzzword-spouting white people who then go on to personally rake in the cash while blatantly stealing it from employees, the target audience, shareholders, etc? When are we gonna get over this addiction to scams?
(Yeah, white people. Mostly men, capitalizing on their privilege to be *believed,* no matter what hogwash they're spouting, and presumed expert no matter how little they actually know. When BIPoC do this without attaching themselves to a white frontman first, they don't get far.)
It's just the same old shit, replicated endlessly down the ages. The snake-oil sellers become the disruptors and their "it's a miracle" hype becomes slick Prezi pitches, but it's all still "I fit your image of a good/smart/successful person, give me the deed to your house!"
::sigh:: But honestly, I just don't understand why my society gives business people so much leeway. I think often about Shaw's old "Those who can't, teach" line, and all the MBAs who spout it. Projection. Pure projection. But they buy it, and so do too many others.
