Proud of our 2nd year PhD student, Loïc Bideau, for his beautiful 1st 1st-author review paper in Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences today! "Animal regeneration in the era of transcriptomics" https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00018-021-03760-7 @IJMonod @INSB_CNRS @CampusFrance

Animal regeneration has fascinated scientists since centuries. In this review, we highlight key questions in the regeneration field and summarize recent morphological, cellular and molecular data from a variety of regeneration types and species
We discuss in an evolutionary perspective mechanisms that control the main steps of regeneration and key processes ie apoptosis, cell signalling and ROS. A specific attention is given to the identity, plasticity and differentiation potential of the cells required for regeneration
We have made a metazoan-wide analysis of >100 bulk mRNA sequencing studies during regeneration and point out the major advances in the regeneration field they revealed! https://static-content.springer.com/esm/art%3A10.1007%2Fs00018-021-03760-7/MediaObjects/18_2021_3760_MOESM1_ESM.docx
We stress out the fact that a comparative evolutionary study of regeneration is an outstanding strategy to tackle key regeneration-linked interrogations !
And we argue that the use of single cell RNA-seq and integration of multi-omics data, provide new avenues to decipher the key mechanisms underlying regeneration !
