Let's spread realistic thinking and can-do attitude. Instead of simply comforting people. Prepare people to act. Emphasize on knowledge, call for proper behaviors, and tell them to think clearly.
The guy did a great thread by explaining details on what to do and what to expect.

He just has to exclude the "dont panic" kind of thing.

It won't help.

This applies to all of us. Restrain from telling people to calm down. Tell them what to do, in an empathic manner.
