This week, graduating internal medicine residents asked @Royal_College to acknowledge the toll working as front line physicians during the COVID 19 pandemic has taken on our ability to concentrate and prepare for our licensing exam. 1/5
We asked them to modify our exam to reflect this reality - a precedent that was set last year under much lower rates of community transmission, and has been set by other Royal College programs this year. They did not listen. 2/5
I feel unheard, ignored and forgotten as I work extra hours and put my health at risk caring for COVID-19 patients in hospital. I want to express my disappointment and outrage at the quick dismissal of our request, and ask that the Royal College carefully reconsider. 3/5
Please acknowledge the vital role that internal medicine residents have had in the pandemic response and don’t make us have to choose between excellent patient care and excellent exam preparation. #FrontlineAndForgotten #RCLetsTalk #RCForgotMe #MedTwitter 4/5
