Time to hop on the soapbox for a minute here. I’m so sick of people living in this “Perception Palace” that has been created within this game. There are so many levels of it. From the fact that travel ball has evolved into “Status Ball” and so many players and their parents....
Are far more concerned with the perception of their abilities based on the jersey they put on as opposed to the quality of their performance. I don’t blame the kids. The adults are doing this to them. You know another time I feel bad? When guys BS kids about.....
How hard they throw. I’m not talking throwing 4oz balls or run-n-guns. Those are part of training. I’m talking about all these kids that literally have been made to think they throw 88-90 then show up in a game and throw 80-82 and look stupid because the kid and parents....
Have been told they’re throwing harder than they are so they tell everyone else about it and then have egg on their face. That sucks for the kid. Then you’ve got people constantly panicking because they’re comparing their kids to others and what they’re doing. Quit worrying.....
About what someone else is doing. You know what? Much of the time their plan sucks. Much of the time their situation lacks reality. Much of the time they’re just flat out BS’ing you. I get it. It sucks sometimes because when you don’t know any better you don’t necessarily know...
Who is telling you the truth. You don’t know who is leading you in the right direction or wrong direction. We didn’t have to worry about that so much back in the day. Unfortunately we lacked good info that could have helped so it’s a bit of a double-edged sword.....
But at least we didn’t have to comb through so much BS that was created by this chase for perception over performance. I rambled almost incoherently. I’m sorry.
