4. Institutionalized intellectual and creative activity is largely dead. Universities have privatized what little research they now produce: the result is a dangerously anemic intellectual society.

7. Forgive student debt. It's a dumb way to finance education, it's ripped North American university infrastructure down the middle.

8. The current CEO wanna be culture of university administrations needs to go. They run universities into the ground to extract value. They're educational corporate raiders.
They need to be fired, ranks shrunk, replaced by people who believe in education.

9. I'd like someone to please tell me how to get our broader culture to care about this. I've been writing about it for years, so have other people. The astonishing apathy from the broader culture never ceases to amaze.

14. The North American university system is one of the ways in which our culture funnels resources from the 99% to the 1%. It's basically a wealth-reallocation program at this point that funnels money and intellectual resources upwards.
