As of the year 2020, Amazon has been offering over 22000 products from 111 of its own private labels brands on its marketplace, which is triple of the numbers from 2018! (1/7)
- Apparel, Accessories & Footwear constitute ~50% of Amazon's private-label products

- 6 of Amazon's brands offer a more than 1000 products each, while rest are focused on serving specialized customer bases (2)
- Amazon basics is the biggest private label with product portfolio of over 4000

- The average price of Amazon private label product is $32 - overall mid segment positioning

- Average product rating of its private label products is 4.3/5 - which is really great! (3)
However, as per reports the private labels contribute only ~2-3% of its overall revenues but its becoming a big source of unease for the sellers on the platform (4)
Between April 2018 and April 2020, the number of AmazonBasics best-seller products alone jumped from 660 to over 1,300, with AmazonBasics eating up prime real estate in certain search results pages (5)
Although there have been allegations on anti-competitive behavior with concerns that amazon has been using seller data to analyse the top selling products and launching it under their own private label (6)
- but this has not stopped the rise of Amazon's labels as they continue to prosper and soon may become one of the crucial revenue drivers for the company! (7/7)
