NEOSCUM SPOILERZ
Hey friends! As some of you might have already heard, I'm taking a break from recording NeoScum - in fact I've been on a break for a little while! I let the crew know towards the end of last year and we're just now getting to my last ep (huge props to us for a backlog huh??)
Why a break? Didn't NeoScum already do a break? Yes and no! Yes you saw a break in the release of episodes, but for us that was months and months of coordinating, setting up & testing equipment, and recording a backlog of patreon content and main episodes. In a pandemic.
After we "landed" in our all-remote reality and got away from the scramble to set things up, I came to the realization that I just wanted to cool off and relax for a while without having a deadline we were chasing, and I don't think that's how the rest of the crew was feeling.
I'll let them speak to their own perspectives but from my end it felt like NeoScum was an additional ball to juggle with hell work and hell life and it was more than I could handle. So even while my instincts pressured me to commit I knew I needed to slow down.
But I was in the minority, and I started to realize that my own desire to take a personal break was starting to influence how we planned as a team. With a 5 person podcast it is really easy to fall prey to the assumption you all have to be in lockstep with each other
We also have put a LOT into this, our personalities, stories, sweat, everything. It's hard to put yourself and your needs above a project like that sometimes, especially if it feels like your involvement is crucial to its survival.
And Z! God damn Zenith is just this absolute treasure trove of storytelling that has been amazing to get to explore with Gannon and the rest of the crew. In some ways I felt like I was letting Z down because I was missing chances to deepen and expose more of his narrative
It was hard for me to tell my pals I wanted to take a break when I knew they wanted to burn rubber. But for all my concerns and doubts my friends were immediately supportive and wanted to help however they could. It was so freeing to have my friends HELP me take a break 
I still talk to the crew all the time and I'm still the NeoScum business boy but I probably won't be in main episodes for a while. You might see me pop up in patreon content here and there but I don't know yet when I'll feel ready to come back.
To everybody who is part of a group and is maybe feeling like the slow one at the back of the jogging club - you don't have to be the constant straggler. You can just walk off the track and let the group run a couple laps and get back in there when you're ready.
No narrative or story or project should supercede people taking care of each other, so when I told Gannon that I had a really stupid idea of how to handle my break narratively I was delighted that we got to do it in a way that still felt true to Zenith while helping me personally
