Akutami-sensei says Yuuji is the type of young wakamono protagonist they don't handle well or know how to act around, which was done purposefully because they wanted Yuuji to be as different from sensei as possible.

Kobayashi-san (the host) said he speculated Akutami-sensei was a woman for the longest time because of the way they characterized females, particularly Nobara. her character was inspired by Hiromi in GO! Hiromi GO! manga that sensei read as a kid.
Akutami-sensei had plans for Yuuji to remain dead after Sukuna ripped his heart out if serialization for Jujutsu Kaisen didn't go well. since Yuuji was the type of character that sensei wouldn't get along with or handle well, sensei didn't seem to have any problems with this LOL
