Potential scholarship-seeking undergraduates, don’t allow anyone to ‘confuse’ you that aiming for a high CGPA is unnecessary. It’s very important. Many people don’t know this until they graduate.

While chasing the good grades, please learn! Acquire skills, it could be coding,
Graphics design, photography, business, administrative skills, etc. Vie for departmental executive positions, represent your colleagues, SERVE! While doing all these, network with people that inspire you; academically/professionally. The social media has made this pretty easy.
Many people who volunteer these days don’t see beyond the certificates of participation or the recognition they get from the activity. However, the most important things are the passive skills, knowledge, and the networks you make, which you’ll need now or in the future. SERVE!
Most people that win scholarships with low CGPA have strong leadership and ‘give-back’ potentials. Most of the big scholarships out there are looking for all-round, dynamic candidates who have the ability to do many things at the same time. Serve in the church, mosque, school etc
When you graduate, you may not
land the job or scholarship immediately. Again, don’t give in to those that will remind you that “Naija no be by book”. It may not happen immediately, but you’ll definitely win someday, you just have to keep growing, and applying the lessons.
