There was an interesting question during the #SessionZeroOnline panel about human stories in #RPGSEA.
How do we create "authentic" stories reflecting specific cultures, when we ourselves are a bastardized amalgam of cultural identities?

I feel like the most authentic story we can ever write is our own, where every lived experience matters, where nobody can tell you "You're not authentic X" enough -- not Filipino enough, not Chinese enough, etc.

- there is no such thing as a purely Filipino heritage. "Being Filipino enough" being Filipino as a monolithic unchanging cultural identity, that's such an incredibly flawed concept for me. We are all Filipino. We are all our identities. Our experiences are always authentic.
@bjrecio has really meaningful and intelligent thoughts on this, I'm just typing my own earnest opinions. This is a concern many people struggle with, trying to be "authentic" enough, and I'm saddened that we gatekeep trying to be real to our own identity.
