Today on @NEWS1130: we're hearing from the Nature Conservancy of Canada, which says that, based on polling done by @Ipsos, nature has really nurtured Canadians during the #COVD19 pandemic. 94%(!) said being outdoors has helped to relieve stress & anxiety.
Speaking w/ @KDnewsguy, Nancy Newhouse of the Nature Conservancy of Canada says it's a testament to how important it is to conserve the natural spaces we use. Inadvertently, the pandemic served as a reminder that humans have a connection to nature & we should be mindful of that.
Newhouse says this is more than just parks; it's not just re: a boundary where we "allow" people to be. Says nature is all around us & that deserves to be protected for the generations to follow. The survey also found women were far more likely than men to turn to being outside.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada's commissioned poll comes at the end of a fundraising drive that drew $750 million, or enough to protect land measuring more than 3.5 times the size of Vancouver Island! Listen for more today (Sat) on @NEWS1130
