(I don’t mean to read women authors, I only mean to read something brilliant)
I read half of Jenny Offill’s Dept. of Speculation last night and didn’t even mean to, it was just so beautiful and perfect.
Anyway, the above is a small and impartial list, in part because I’ve spent more time reading poetry/historical theology/criticism/philosophy than novels.
Adding Carmen Maria Machado’s In the Dream House (!!) and Virginia Woolf (start with The Waves) and perhaps just going to say “prose” like poets do...
