Thread addressing Trans Rights and @TheGreenParty. I have heard that apparently, GC people are leaving the party over our trans-inclusive LGBTQ+ policy (which is written on our website if you want to check). There seems to be the notion that seeing trans rights as human rights 1
is distracting from our environmental goals. I must admit I geeked out a bit and did some research and pretty much every Green Party has a trans-inclusive policy of some form. It would seem like part of the 'environmental and social justice' cornerstone 2
that all Green Parties share, trans rights as human rights are built in. If people are leaving the Green Party over this, and turning their back on environmental concerns because of this one issue, then they are turning their back on Green politics. 3
I think they will be hard-pressed to find a political party with as much environmental consciousness, social justice, and sustainable economic policy that doesn't also care about LGBTQ+ rights. 4
