I agree with the shaykh but I am not arguing that philosophy is the most important field and without it Islam will collapse.

I'm saying it's an important one and I wish Muslims led it more than non-muslims because it makes a difference to those interested in it. https://twitter.com/ShahinRahmanUK/status/1355478640876802049
Whenever someone says something like "I wish Muslims were more ahead in Science" you'll often hear the response that we don't need to because spreading the message of Islam is more important etc.

I don't understand the dichotomy. Being a successful civilisation IS going to
- spread Islam.

Whether people understand this or not many turn away from Islam or are not impressed by it due to our failings in keeping up with the modern world.
Think about a world where Muslims were enormously rich, had multiple universities, were the best in research, economics, healthcare, etc.

People would flock to our lands to learn more about us and our own people wouldn't be as threatened by liberalism or atheism as today.
The reality is that if you want to spread Islam you need to bring EVERYTHING to the table.

There's a reason we had such amazing philosophers, economists, scientists and other thinkers in the past who made the religion so successful.

We need the whole package.
