I can understand why U.K. left EU. Last night’s antics were an interesting revelation as to how the EU sees itself & what it thinks it can do. They made fools of Irish politicians. There is a problem with what the EU has become, it has strayed very far from what it was founded..
..to be. It seems many in the EU want to create a single sovereign entity, a federal United States of Europe, that is problematic & many citizens will not accept that. The rise of neo-Nationalism in EU countries appears, in part, to be a response to that & the refusal of EU..

.. referendums have a roll here. I think in Ireland, for example, it should be enshrined in the Constitution that a referendum on EU membership take place every ten years. Citizens may vote to stay all the time, but it could be a mechanism to put manners on EU bureaucrats...
.. There is so much good EU can do for its members & the world, I think a lot of potential has been untapped. It would be a shame that others leave like U.K., because those who run the thing have lost sight of the humanitarian vision of its foundation. Reform is badly needed now.
