Want to try the Personal Monopoly?

Learn about the Creator's Gambit as opening move.

Day 27/30 of #ship30for30 👇
🧵 below
In monopoly, you drive other players into bankruptcy to force them out of the game. In a gambit, you sacrifice some of your assets with the aim to achieve a subsequent advantage in the later game. This is the playbook for the creator's gambit.
Start with monopoly. I watched @david_perell @jackbutcher and @anafabrega11 talk about the personal monopoly:

A personal monopoly emerges from the sweet overlap in a Venn diagram between the areas curiosity, competence, and character.
Ask yourself 3 questions:

What do you care about?
What are you good at?
Who are you?

It is eternal wisdom: Know thyself. Become who you are. Philosophy 101.
Marry competence with curiosity and add your unique character to enter the playing field with a product that has your USP. Then you have no real competition for your stand-out trademark offer and a shot at monopoly.
Wrap your offer as a present. Add glitter. Your content is a product. You can decide if you offer it as a commodity or a luxury product. For an exclusive offer, increase demand and shorten supply. Capitalism 101.
This all sounds compelling. But my problem is that I don't like to play monopoly. It is competitive, exploitative, and you must be mean to win. I find games that are collaborative in nature much more rewarding.
Is there a collaborative game to play in the creator economy? Social media has too many people struggling alone.

Find and join clandestine pirate crews. Support communities that emerged from cohort-based courses. People who connect because they explore together.
We play the creator's gambit. We chose to sacrifice assets by investing in ourselves to aim for success in the long game. We care and we share. We coach each other. We cultivate intellectual commons instead of intellectual property. Joining forces is much more rewarding.
