While we are living during a time of highly immersive and technologically advanced attractions, I believe many of these new attractions aren’t capturing that same level of “involving the rider” the way rides in the past have. Thread because I feel super passionate about this...
“Come on everybody here we go!”
This ride was truly the blueprint. The first time a dark ride said “wait instead of retelling Peter Pan’s story why not have Peter invite the guests on an adventure alongside him?” This small detail would pave the way to more story based rides.

“I’ve always wanted to do this! We’re going in!”
This is a true next step from Peter Pan’s Flight. Now instead of just coming along for the ride, the attraction puts you right in the middle of the action, allowing you to relive this climactic Star Wars scene all over again.

“With Doc Ock on the loose this could be the most dangerous night of my life! And yours!”
Such a simple yet effective intro to an attraction. If Spiderman is scared right now then we should be too! After all its not often you see Superheroes be this vulnerable.

“You looked into my eyes! Your path now leads to the gates of doom!”
Perhaps the most genius intro to a ride ever. One of the only attractions where the peril you are placed into is actually your fault! After all you were warned during the safety video.

“Psst! Avast there! It be too late to alter course, mateys.”
and
“There’s no turning back now”
Both great examples of pushing dread onto guests right at the start of an attraction. Forcing them to question why they agreed to ride these rides in the first places.

“One stormy night long ago, five people stepped through the door of an elevator and into a nightmare. That door is opening once again, and this time it's opening for you.”
No evil laugh, no music cue, just a man calmly spelling out your doom. Better hold on tight...

“Your Bravery, Saved the planet. Well done; Freedom Fighters”
Ive always loved this moment because it has a similar vibe to the Spiderman moment but is instead placed at the end. Not a bad feeling to have the hero of the ride tell you face to face that you saved the planet!

I can go on and on with this thread but my point is a lot of new rides don’t have that moment where characters from the universe actually invite you in to the adventure and I feel like you really need that in all rides.
